New Poll Coming Soon

I've had a few messages regarding the poll regarding favourite shops in the village and some suggestions for future polls. I'll be running a new one next week on peoples favourite takeaway in Northenden.

The only problem is, there are so many. Please let me know which ones you'd like me to include in the poll and I'll compile a short list.

The Warburtons (John and Emma with daughters Muriel and Audrey) lived on Homewood Road during the 1930s and 1940s. Does anyone remember them? Muriel and Audrey went to Yew Tree School and John worked in Manchester at Dorma and Wylex. Audrey got married in the 1940s and moved to Leigh. Muriel got married at St Wilfrid's Church in December 1948 and moved to Wales. John and Emma moved to Southport during the 1950s.
Doing a book of memories and it would be great to have some more information.
The website is great- wonderful photos!
    Thank you.
    Karen Davies on Muriel's behalf.

  6. Fantastic Job on his website! I was born and bred in Northenden/Northern Moor/Bagulay/Wythenshawe as my Granma and Grandad moved here in the late 50's with their brood (The Barker's). I have fond memories of the village shops especially woolworths and the pet shop that was on the corner on church road where my cousin and I would go with our 'spends' in the early 80's!

  7. I was born in Northenden in 1942 I was known as Susan Banks. I am in one of your photos, and so is my Aunt Mrs Lilly Lowcock. I went to Bazley Road School and the Yew Tree. Although I do not live in Northenden any more I still come back on a regular basis to visit friends. My mother was Dorothy Brickell and she worked in the old post office, as did my dad Sidney Banks, my mum also worked at Applebys drapers in her latter years.
